The idea behind The Awesome Foundation is simple: award $1000 every month to projects that are worthy, inspiring, awesome. No strings attached.

What started as an idea in Boston in 2009 has spread around the world in a global gesture of goodwill. There are Awesome chapters across the US, Canada, Europe and good old Melbourne (OK, Sydney has one too).

Over the past year the local Awesome Foundation has dished out dollars to the likes of Rooftop Bees and Tram Sessions. And to mark their one year anniversary they’re throwing, of course, an awesome party and dishing out a mega grant (over $3 G’s).

To get involved you can pledge online at Pozible here. A $50 vote allows you to vote on the recipient of the grant, and $100 gets you to the party, all food, booze and entertainment included.

If it sounds a little steep consider this: at the party there willl be tastings from Rooftop Bees, live music from Tram Sessions, canapes by Miss Chu, desserts by Monk Bodi Dharma, cocktails by Westwinds Gin and beers by Little Creatures.

Plus it’s for a neat cause and it’s going to be…most excellent.

The Awesome Party is on Wednesday 22 Feb from 6.30pm – 10pm.
