On Now: Winter Night Market at Queen Victoria Market

The temperature has officially dropped, and Melbourne’s favourite Winter Night Market at Queen Victoria Market has returned. Every Wednesday till 31 August from 5 pm–10 pm, the Winter Night Market will bring together Melbourne’s best street food traders, brewers, distillers, artisans and entertainment for the perfect midweek winter experience.

After a three-year hibernation, revisit food and drink favourites, such as pasta tossed in a giant cheese wheel, steaming soups served in a big bread roll or sip on hot gin toddies, warming spiced cider and mulled wine. Joining returning favourites and Melbourne icons this year are first-timers M&G Caiafa with mouth-watering burnt Basque and Biscoff cheesecakes; Antagonist Spirits with a winter gin & tonic, spiked Milo cocktail, hot gin toddy, and spiced rum; The Happy Mexican with pork, chicken, beef and vegan tacos, chilaquiles and charred corn on the cob; and That’s Amore, with their four-cheese spaghetti and burrata. Welcome, indeed!

Setting up an electric atmosphere, each week will see a rotating line-up of homegrown talent play live music sets on the Market’s main stage while roving performers keep visitors entertained as they stroll through the stands, noses at the ready and tastebuds salivating.

Afterwards, explore the market’s unique stalls selling locally-sourced and handmade treasures, including jewellery, art, skincare, books and homewares. Then, settle beside one of the many roaring open fires with dessert. Will that be a churro bowl with vanilla bean ice cream topped with hot Nutella sauce, a Portuguese custard tart or a fun, cartoon-decorated, fairy-floss bun?

Mid-season, the Market will embrace the festive spirit to celebrate Christmas in July. Rug up in your winter woollies and be transported to a winter wonderland complete with snow, Christmas trees, decorations and ALL of the festive feels.
