Mamasita x Cheek

If you were under the impression that the antics of Christmas in July were behind you, then think again. Mexican legends Mamasita have teamed up with the guys from Cheek to put on a once-in-a-year collab slash celebration. On Sunday, 11 August, Mamasita will teem with a delicious array of slow-braised, roasted and smoked meats, and a huge selection of beverages. 

Years in the making, Nick Peters (Mamasita) and Tom Peasnell (Cheek, Dexter and Peaches) outline that punters can expect to be served with traditional-esque Mexican Christmas dishes with an American–Korean flair. 

After numerous discussions, Sunday’s menu may look a little like this: 

• Hot meat donut filled with cochinita pibil, crema, pineapple and Xni-pec
• Bone marrow tostada with shiso, jalapeño, daikon and serrano
• Taco of smoked short rib, sesame caramel, ancho, mulato and miso ranch 
• Mole rojo, turkey leg (dry aged), cebollitas, cauliflower, garnishes
• Pastel mil hojas with buñuelos for dessert with duck fat caramel, meringue

Sounds delicious, right? There are two sittings on Sunday. One at 12pm and one at 2.30pm.
