Pier Farm

In a city spoilt for choice with its many amazing foodie hubs, Williamstown isn’t exactly known for its fine dining venues. However, restauranters and food connoisseurs alike are starting to take notice of the stunning seaside location. Enter newbie Pier Farm. Originally opening in November 2017, the waterfront restaurant is about to launch its exciting new menu, aiming to match its stunning location with an equally enticing dining experience.

Pier Farm is the latest venture for Roberto Scheriani (previously of The Italian and Roberto’s) and offers a mouthwatering selection of Mediterranean-inspired seafood and produce. The menu focuses on local, seasonal ingredients and boasts an impressive wine list, with over 140 different drops available.

The food is presented beautifully, the chefs obviously have a passion for what they are preparing. Dishes such as zucchini flowers stuffed with spanner crab and saffron mayonnaise or grilled wild-caught tiger prawns in herbed butter feature exquisite flavours in fresh combinations.

This venture gives new life to the site previously occupied by The Anchorage for over 35 years. With its white wooden walls and industrial-style fittings, along with its picture-perfect views of the bay and boats, you could be mistaken for thinking you are in the cabin of a quaint sea liner from the turn of last century, if it were not for the hanging indoor plants and the lack of sea sickness.

The restaurant is cute and charming, although it is a pity it does not make greater use of the outdoor space, considering its picturesque location. As the land is owned by Parks Victoria, there are certain restrictions on site developments; however, renovations to the kitchen, bar and dining space are in the works later this year.

Pier Farm is a lovely spot for a romantic dinner, small celebratory event or fancy Sunday sesh. The gorgeous location along with the tasty dishes provides the perfect destination for your next seaside outing.
