Coffee And Clarinets On A Lazy Friday Afternoon

There are certain things that just seem to go with coffee – like say, breakfast and a newspaper. After visiting the Social Roasting Company on McKillop Street last Friday, I’m adding the woody sound of a clarinet to that list.

Every Friday in June from 12 noon – 2.00pm you’ll find a musical duo (Michael on guitar and Claudine on Clarinet) serenading you from the corner as you sip your skilfully crafted cappuccino. If you drop a little tip in the musician’s cup near the register, you might even get to hear their rendition of the Tetris song!

This (literally) underground cafe is a place away from the hustle and bustle. As you leave behind the soft music and melt back into the rush, you’ll wonder why you didn’t tip more for that little slice of serenity.
