Christmas at The Pie Shop

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas. The Brunswick East institution, The Pie Shop, has released a special edition dessert pie and Christmas pudding ice cream just in time for your Christmas festivities.

Meet ‘The Nellie’. She is one of the most festive pies going ‘round. She’s the type of pie you take to your mate’s place and pretend you made yourself. Under the buttery lid of pastry lies layer upon layer of peach, raspberry and lemon verbena. Partnered with a special Four Pillars Christmas gin pudding ice-cream, the pair are utterly irresistible.

You can have a slice of Nellie for $8 or $50 for the whole pie. Sadly, The Nellie is only available up until Sunday, 23 December, so make sure you put your pre-orders in! ‘If you want to feast on The Nellie on Christmas Day, pick her up on the Sunday and pop her in the fridge. She’ll be absolutely perfect come the 25th!’ says owner Matt Wilkinson.

Nellie joins a long list of classic pies, including The Bruce (spag bol); The Allen (chunky beef and veg); The Shazza (caramelised onion, cauliflower and cheese – my personal favourite); The Norma (a curried turkey version of butter chicken – second favourite); The Kevin (tomato, artichoke, green beans and feta); and breakfast pie, The Uncle Pete (jalapeno baked beans, eggs and cheese).

If you’re after a range of sweet pies, don’t miss the opportunity to get to know The Pie Shop’s dessert range. The Rita (apple and cinnamon), The Edith (Alphington rooftop honey and buttermilk) are joined by The Matilda (strawberry cheesecake) and The Frank (chocolate salted caramel pretzel).
