Caribbean Laneway Party

As a part of the ongoing Good Food Month festivities, The Bridge Hotel’s turning Caribbean for Sunday the 30th of November. Hopefully you’ve been getting into some of the many, many foodie events that have been sprawling out of the CBD for the last few weeks.

If you’ve had your fill of paella during the Johnston Street Festival or noodles from Birrarung Marr’s Asian panoply – this should be right up your alley, so to speak. The Richmond venue has an internal laneway that it’s capitalising on to recreate a market feel with a Caribbean theme. No small task, considering the diversity of the region.

They’re incorporating pop-up stands and bars, serving a range of Caribbean fare. There will be a variety of specialty food and drink reflecting the disparate influences in the culture – Jamaican, Cuban, Haitian – to name a few. We’re also assured that a number of cocktails and rare beers will be making an appearance.

Running from 12pm-5pm, the Caribbean Laneway Party should prove to be a welcome addition to the Good Food Month line up. Entry is free, and you can grab food and beverage tokens from the bar.

If you’re not sure whether or not you should get down there, ask yourself, how often do you get to eat tostones?  Then be surprised by fact that you’re able to pronounce tostones so fluidly, and go and look it up in the dictionary because the answer is never, never often.
