The Age Good Food Awards 2015

Last week, the good folks at The Age allowed this Milk Bar writer to attend their Good Food Awards ceremony at the National Gallery of Victoria. Yes, we know this is last week’s news that happened ages ago (sorry, couldn’t help myself), but we wanted to make sure this dish was well prepared first. Better plate than never.

Being the prestigious event that it was, all the men were suited up and the women dolled up in their Monday night best. Very suave indeed. With plenty of wine and craft beer to go around served with more than enough complimentary foods from bread, cheese, pork and just about everything else in the food pyramid. Bloody marvelous!

Then the ceremony started, with all the tables occupied with nominees and other members of Melbourne’s hospitality elite attending. Local comedian Tom Gleeson of skitHOUSE fame (the “nothing suss” guy) hosted, and did a bang up job too. Naturally he gave us plenty of food for thought (sorry, couldn’t help myself) with all the hospitality and food related jokes imaginable. (His latte rant got a good laugh!).

But of course, what you’re reading this for, and you may already know, are the lucky winners of the awards presented that night. My (chef) hats go off to them.

The Age Good Food Guide is available in bookstores and online at theageshop.com.au for $24.99.
