Introduction to the ballet

Be it their exquisite defiance of gravity or seemingly impossible limb length, there’s something about ballet dancers – and here’s a rare opportunity to witness the awe-inspiring creatures in their natural habitat.

Hosted by Artistic Director David McAllister, The Australian Ballet’s behind-the-scenes program welcomes ballet-buffs and newcomers alike, sharing the ins-and-outs of the dancers’ daily training regime.

A demonstration class will take place on stage, followed by a polished performance plucked straight from the 2014 repertoire, accompanied by live music.

And for the especially nosey, dancers and artistic staff including Senior Artist Juliet Burnett (cooling her heels after Chroma) and Ballet Master Tristan Message will participate in a Q&A session.
