Festival of Football

Football fans assemble, the historic George Cinema in the heart of St Kilda has been transformed into a hub of football fever.

For the duration of the World Cup, ALL matches will be screened live across three huge cinema screens for the Festival of Football.

Let’s face it, getting up at ridiculous hours to watch the “beautiful game” is a big effort. And big efforts deserve big rewards. Cheering on your team in one of the three kitted out areas is just the way to make the experience one of a kind for all you die-hards. Even if it is just the team you drew in the office sweepstakes.

No other venue in Melbourne will be screening every single game, so whichever country you’re backing you will see them in action.

There are three levels of seating available. First up is The Stadium. Think theatre seats and a bar. Then The Lawn; loungers, bean bags and deck chairs. And for those that want to roll like the players and WAGS there are Super Boxes, private booths for ten and an all-inclusive food and drinks package. Not too shabby.

Luke Byrns, Director of Festival of Football says, “We have created a unique experience during the World Cup that has never been done here before.”

“The Festival of Football will celebrate the best sporting event in the world, in an atmosphere that won’t be found anywhere else in Melbourne,” he adds.

With Chef Billy Kerr keeping supporters’ energy at peak level by serving up grub from a Brazilian street cart within the cinema, it’s the best place in town to watch the action unfold. Who needs Rio eh?

Somewhere Else video sings of summer

It almost sounds like the premise of a reality TV show: pile a bunch of artists in a bus for seven days, send them across Mexico and see what happens.
