Game of Rhones returns

It might be winter, which for me is as good an excuse as any for cuddling up with a nice bottle of red and the latest episode of Game of Thrones.

However it’s nice to get out of your cocoon once in awhile and this weekend join up with like-minded peeps at the always epic Game of Rhones.

From the twisted minds at Bottle Shop Concepts, who put on the most fun wine events in Australia, this year sees St Kilda Town Hall transformed into a little slice of Westeros.

That means people in GOT-inspired costumes, and over 40 producers showing off their best interpretations of grape varieties from the Rhone Valley: all-stars like Shiraz, Grenache, Mourvedre and Carignan. Plus wines from “Beyond the Wall” – in this case that means the USA.

There’s also going to be a new Rhone Bar where you can buy a glass of very rare vintages for a very nice price. Plus wash it all down with BBQ from Burn City Smokers.

And finally it wouldn’t be Game of Rhones without a good old torture chamber, where blind-folded participants face their fear in a taste-testing with a difference. Just make sure you don’t do a Joffrey.
