24-Hours Under the Cover of Melbourne
Posted by Amelia Moulis
20. Mar, 2014
The 24 Hour Experience is an immersive cacophony of back-to-back live works throughout the CBD, every hour on the hour. Part of the Festival of Live Art, each piece is designed to document the subterranean voices, personalities, interactions and spaces that make Melbourne so very Melbourne.
From priests to pole dancers, each hour presents a fresh and eclectic performance set to turn audience members into participants. Performances will take participants from the State Library, Magistrates Court, Malthouse Theatre, and beyond.
Navigate the city by wheelchair, see a performance installation in a public toilet, listen to recordings from confessionals, be part of a makeshift choir, explore the caverns and tunnels beneath the pavements, or watch four live bands on the four corners of Federation Square. Each is “inspired by the poetic minutiae of everyday life”.
A fully catered event, only 50 places are available for the curious and open-minded to embark on this revealing and thought-provoking 24-hour quest.
