Food meets flicks at Culinary Cinema

Orgasmic Southern food? Check. Icy cold beer? Check. Drool-worthy flicks? Big check. Culinary Cinema brings you the perfect setting for a romantic first date or a night out with your friends.

Held over two nights in November in conjunction with Good Food Month, Culinary Cinema is the meaty marriage between Southern food connoisseur Jess Pryles (aka Burger Mary) with the slightly eccentric arts space The Baron Said in Fitzroy.

Scrap those popcorn and choc top treats you find at your local cinema and prepare to be entertained with a three-course meal plus welcome cocktail and themed popcorn. Screening 14 November, Elizabeth Taylor and Paul Newman will whisk you away in Cat On A Hot Tin Roof. The menu includes the Brick’s Mendacity (a sweet tea cocktail infused with bourbon), Creole Corn, Maggie’s Savoury Creole Cheesecake and Big Daddy’s Fried Chicken. Wash it all down with a No Neck Monster Sundae.

The following screening (30 November) brings you Tarantino’s Death Proof. Get started with The Butterfly (a cocktail with generous shot of Chartreuse), Jungle Julie’s MexeCorn, Warren’s Chilli Nachos and Stuntman Mike’s Trailer Trash Tacos polished off with the Sweet Revenge (salted dulce de leche sauce on vanilla ice cream).
