Goldilocks

Finding Melbourne’s newest cocktail bar is almost an adventure in itself. Enter through the chaos on Noodle Kingdom, pass the steaming plates of dumplings and the kitchen and take the unmarked elevator at the back. Go to the fourth floor and the doors open up to Goldilocks.

The team of mixologists have created a venue that plays on its name without all the kitsch. Opulent Chesterfield lounges, private booths, custom made fixtures, moody lighting and table service make for a very grown up fable.

Start your own story with a Lamington Flip No.2 ($20) a cocktail that puts grandma’s to shame (sorry granny!) There’s another five cocktails on the rotating list, along with wines and beers from local producers.

Chef Katie Marron has created tasty picnic baskets made for sharing, including Chicken Little (fried Chicken, dill pickles and a punchy three bear’s sauce, $18) and truffle butter popcorn ($8). Not only is the kitchen open till 3am, but soon you can venture into the woods. Goldilocks will be opening their rooftop forest in six weeks. But that’s another story.
