LMFF Fashion Film Series 2013

Teaming up with ACMI, Portable.tv and Fed Square, the L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival has launched its inaugural Fashion Film Series as part of its new cultural program.

Celebrating the art of design through film, submissions came from a wide array of sources: from traditional filmmakers to iconic Aussie brands. With over 50 submissions in the running for a coveted place in a masterclass with Moving Image and Content founder Quynh Mai, the judges were tasked with whittling the pool to the successful three films.

This year’s winners included Emma Mulholland 12/13, (Alex Goddard) kusbi kolors (Daniel Askill) and Tomorrow’s Lovers (Christian Blanchard and Steven Protuder).

Graeme Lewsey, L’Oréal Melbourne Fashion Festival CEO, said the calibre of films this year was outstanding.

“The fashion film technique brings a designer’s collection to life in a new and exciting form and the Fashion Film Series celebrates the high quality of works from Australian filmmakers. The Film Series and the medium allows a designer’s digital content to reach a wider and more diverse audience.”

The top 12 film finalists will be showing on the big screen at Fed Square until the end of March, so pull up a deck chair and settle in to witness the talent from some of Australia’s best fashion film makers.
