Australian fashion has really been hitting its strides lately. From Dion Lee representing Australia with his sculptural entry in the International Woolmark Award, to Lover’s exclusive collection of wedding dresses for Net-a-Porter, our home-grown Aussie designers are continuing to make their mark in the world of fashion.

Running from March 18 – March 24, the L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival is jam-packed with endless runways and tips from the best in the business. We thought we’d make it a little easier to plan your outfits by highlighting our favourite festival events.

SPORTSGIRL NATIONAL GRADUATE SHOWCASE
Sportsgirl have handpicked the best up-and-coming fashion designers around the country to showcase their original collections to the best in the business. Come and see if you can pick who will make it big from the bevvy of beautiful brands.

L’OREAL PARIS RUNSWAY 5
Harper’s Bazaar has rounded up the cool kids of Australian fashion all in one room for their one-off runway event. From the bold and embellished delights of Sass and Bide, to the minimalistic basics of Bassike, Runway 5 promises to excite and inspire the fashion forward.

BUSINESS MASTERCLASS FEATURING MARY KATRANTZOU
Serious about your future in fashion? Then don’t miss the LMFF Business Seminar, which this year celebrates

FOREIGN RETURNED
The brilliant rainbow palate of the Indian textile industry is set to brighten up the Sofitel Lounge as international artist Meera Sethi brings his Foreign Returned exhibition to Melbourne. A translation of the Mughal miniature painting tradition to life-size canvases, Foreign Returned explores the movement of people across time, space and culture as a visual history worn on our bodies. This is a free event too!

PERFUME MASTERCLASS
The mysterious world of perfume can be yours to explore with The Powder Room’s Perfume masterclass. Lead by The Powder Room director Samantha Taylor, the workshop covers all areas from the history of perfume and production to how to choose your perfect fragrance. Tickets include light refreshments and perfume samples to take home.
