Flavours of Urban Melbourne

Eating food and drinking coffee is so integral to Melbourne that a vehicle number plate slogan stating as much wouldn’t go astray.

With bars and eateries opening up everywhere all the time, trying to keep on top of the best brunch, the best cheap eats, the best good food and/or the best bar can leave you with far too many food guides in your pile.

Enter Jonette George’s new offering, Flavours of Urban Melbourne. A guide to the best restaurants, cafes and cars in the North, West, East & South of Melbourne, Flavours of Urban Melbourne pulls off a hat-trick by including recipes from local chefs and photography of each venue – effectively performing as a three-in-one guidebook-recipe book – coffee table book.

The sequel to the award-winning Flavours of Melbourne, this new volume is perfect for all the food nerds we know – it compiles the history of the suburbs covered and allows the owners and chefs of some of Melbourne’s best-known eateries to share their stories.

It even includes a historical timeline of the areas and includes maps and street listings.

Restaurants and bars showcased in the book include Cutler & Co, Hellenic Republic and The Commoner to name a few.

Flavours of Urban Melbourne launches 11 December, just in time to tackle the Christmas shopping binge (and too late for the foodie in your life to buy it for themselves), so keep your eyes peeled.
