Clunes Book Town Festival

Clunes sounds like the surname of a man who aspired to open a publishing company but never got around to it. The only interesting thing that seems to have happened in Clunes, according to Wikipedia, is the gold rush, which ended in 1893.
While Melbourne may be a UNESCO city of literature, Clunes is Australia’s first International Book Town. So what is a Book Town?
Basically, it’s a town or village with a gross number of second-hand books in it. Usually the town is of some historic interest.
To unload some of the book burden, Clunes will be celebrating all things books by holding author readings, writing workshops, meet the publisher sessions and live music, food, wine and theatre.
Writers attending the Book Town Festival: Hazel Edwards, Gina Perry, Geoffrey Blainey, Alice Pung, Peter Goldsworthy and many more!
WHEN: Saturday 5 May and Sunday 6 May, 9am-5pm
WHERE: Clunes – 36 kilometers north of Ballarat
