Photographer of the week: Francine Schaepper

Two things got Francine Schaepper into photography some 20 years ago. The first was her father, a photography enthusiast who bought Francine her first camera, then started handing her down his old models. The second was the fact that she’s always found it hard to remember events in her life without having a photograph to help out visually.

Francine explains “When I see a photo I took, I remember the moment and all the details that go with it that go beyond the visual – mood, smell, taste, sounds, context. Photographs are my guarantee that I will never forget those moments.”

Today the Swiss-born, Melbourne based photographer uses her photos to create visual memories for other people. She’s worked extensively on film shoots and is currently working on a series of seascapes and a spread on Martial Artists.

Francine is launching her photo blog later this year.
