Espresso Alley

If it ain’t broke…

Two month old Espresso Alley in Northcote is the new place from the two Vinces – Vince Mazzone and Vince Colosimo. Mazzone is the guy behind Carlton’s Tre Bicchieri and Brunswick’s Tre Espresso. Fans of those cafes (and there are many) will like this new cafe.

There’s a similar feel to the other Tre’s here, but with a Northcote twist – fixies out the front, and a shiny new Slayer machine serving Coffee Supreme. Food-wise there’s Italian comfort food like panini and salads plus specials like pancetta wrapped eggs with spinach and relish in a toasted roll.

The vegetarian panini with rocket and house made pesto was served piping hot, the bread had a good crunch and the pesto had a lemony kick. Vince Colosimo is rumoured to be helping out in the kitchen from time to time. I like to think he made me a sandwich. Thanks Vince.

Out back there’s also a range of Italian soft drinks and beans for sale if you want to keep the party going at home.

While Espresso Alley isn’t re-inventing the fixie wheel, some things like good coffee and Italian cooking never go out of fashion.

Nice one Northcote.
