Wednesday Funny-Bones

It’s Wednesday, which means you might as well laugh. Wednesday Adams was funny. It’s also the last day of winter, which is another reason to smile. Footy finals are coming up, which is good for fans and non-fans alike because the footy’s nearly over for another year. Either way, you should laugh. And here are two places you can exercise those face muscles today.

Class Clowns National Grand Final
The 2011 National Class Clowns Final is at the Malthouse Theatre today at 1pm, where 12 of the nation’s smartest (or most smart-alec) school-aged comics have five minutes to convince the judges their tomorrow’s comedy stars. A flagship event of the Melbourne Comedy Festival, these teen comics have been schooled by the festivals finest comics and will be making the funny for judges Cal Wilson, Anthony Watt, Lawrence Mooney and Peter Helliar for cash, and presumably a sick day pass.
Class Clowns Final is today at the Malthouse Theatre, 1pm

Hot Templar Nights
For something at the other end of the comedy spectrum, try the adults-only Hot Templer Nights, an event that encourages comedians to dig up their most articulate and horrifying stand up for a night where “nothing is taboo and there’s guilty relief in knowing you’re not the only fucked up soul.”  Comedian confessors include Xavier Michelides, This is Siberian Husky, Anna Log and, fresh from judging the Class Clowns, Lawrence Mooney. Set in the plush secret backroom of Madame Brussels, it’s a classy way to see crass.
Hot Templar Nights is tonight, Madame Brussels, 8pm – 10pm

Melbourne Insights 2012

We recently attended Melbourne Insights 2012, where local movers and shakers shared their thoughts on the next big trends to hit the city. We also filmed it. Enjoy.
