Truffle Celebration at Prahran Market

Oink, oink, my little piggies. The smell of truffles is in the air. Prahran Market will host a Truffle Celebration on Saturday 24 July and it is not to be missed! There are demonstrations and limited-edition truffle treats on offer celebrating Australian black truffles.

From 12pm, head to Harvest Hall to see the experts in action. Legends Tobie Puttock and Darren Purchese will join Prahran Market’s very own Mushroom Man Damian Pike to inspire food lovers. Be sure to check out Joe Vargetto, who will entice you with a live demo. With senses now primed, seek out treasures like Truffled Cacio e Pepe and Truffled Brioche from Maker & Monger, Truffle Sausages from Gary’s Meats or Truffled Eggs from Damian Pike.

Returning is the market’s popular Truffle Trail, a ticketed experience running from 2–5pm where guests can make like a truffle hog and snuffle along a trail around the market to pick up delicious truffle dishes and products. There are three menus to choose from with different prices, including a vegetarian option.

• Kook’s Kitchen – Buckwheat soba noodle, roast Brussel sprout, enoki, black fungus & parsley salad with freshly grated black truffle

• Fritz Gelato – Double cream black truffle ice-cream
• Damian Pike – Truffled eggs (1/2 dozen)

• Gary’s Meats – Truffle, veal and mushroom sausage in an artisan dinner roll
• Prahran Seafoods – 2 Hervey Bay scallops baked in the half shell with mornay sauce and freshly shaved truffle
• Stir The Pot – Truffled chicken petite pie
• Naheda’s Choice – Truffled parmigiano with crackers
• Fritz Gelato – Double cream black truffle ice-cream
