One of the most iconic summertime experiences in Melbourne is to spend a night under the twinkling stars at Moonlight Cinemas. Celebrating 25 years of entertaining the public at the immaculate Botanical Gardens, everyone’s favourite outdoor cinema has an impeccable line-up of star-studded flicks this February. After perusing the online programMilk Bar has compiled our top recommendations.

Among them is the much-anticipated Blackbird, a heart-wrenching story of a family brought together to say goodbye to their terminally ill mother. You will laugh and you will fight back tears, all due to the magic Susan Sarandon, Sam Neill, Kate Winslet and Mia Wasikowska weave onscreen.

Next is Promising Young Woman. Starring Carey Mulligan, Alison Brie and Jennifer Coolidge, the dark comedy thriller is centred on a young woman, traumatised by her past, who seeks vengeance against those who have crossed her. Then there’s The Marksman, the new action thriller starring the GOAT Liam Neeson.

Who doesn’t love Diane Keaton and Jeremy Irons? See them pair up in the upcoming Love, Weddings and Other Disasters. Otherwise, transport yourself to the green pastures of Ireland in Wild Mountain Thyme starring Emily Blunt and Jamie Dornan. Swoon!

Valentine’s Day is round the corner and with it comes Moonlight Cinema’s romantic favourites, perfect for you and your special mate. The week-long lovefest includes The NotebookCrazy Rich AsiansA Star is Born, and personal fave, Clueless. (She’s a full-on Monet.)

Popular classics from Steven Spielberg also fill the program so look out for Jurassic ParkBack to the Future and E.T. The Extra Terrestrial.

To celebrate 25 years of outdoor cinema magic, Milk Bar is running a ticket giveaway and giving away two FREE double passes to our lucky readers.
