Beyond Burgers

Full disclaimer: this article has been written by a dubious carnivore. But 2020 is the year of a new future – one of zero-waste, listening to our planet and clean-eating. Beyond Burgers is here to assist with the latter. Meat-free burgers are in-demand – even the bigwig fast food chains are getting in on it!

In this decade, no venue should be without vegetarian-friendly options (a few scrappy bits of lettuce is no longer par for the course). ‘We believe it is crucial to stay ahead of culinary trends and listen to our diners. Right now, Australians have a strong appetite for sustainability and conscious consumption, and we are thrilled to curb their cravings with the innovative and delicious Beyond Burger,’ says Christian Abbott, Executive Chef of Middle Park Hotel and one of the 26 casual dining and pub venues in Victoria that are adding The Future of Protein® to their menus this March.

Beyond Burgers are the world’s first plant-based burger that looks, cooks and satisfies just like a beef burger. I’ve been told they even bleed (thanks to beetroot juice). The burgers have all the meaty flavour and texture of a traditional burger, but with the benefits of a plant-based meal. Each juicy Beyond Burger patty contains a hefty 20g of plant pea protein, and is gluten, GMO and soy free. Not only do the burgers deliver on flavour and protein, they are also good for the environment. Beyond Burger patties require less water and energy to make and emit fewer greenhouse gases than their beef counterparts.

Each eatery will add their own unique flair to make the burger their own, giving Aussies the chance to sample the sustainable patties in a myriad of delicious combinations. It’s enough to pique this carnivore’s curiosity.

The meat-free trend is here to stay. Plant-based diets are one of the fastest growing trends in Australia, with 2.5 million people (12.1% of the population) opting for either an all or almost all vegetarian diet. Whether you need a break from your steak, are making meat-free days a part of your week or prefer a vegetarian diet, look no further and seek out one of the 26 venues below. Both your body and conscience will thank you for it.

Somewhere Else video sings of summer

It almost sounds like the premise of a reality TV show: pile a bunch of artists in a bus for seven days, send them across Mexico and see what happens.
