It’s the talk of the town, hello Moon Dog World! Step inside the mammoth venue and choose your own adventure. Fancy a sour beer by the indoor lagoon and rainforest area? Enjoy a cocktail in the tropical disco tiki bar? Or play a game of pinball while waiting for an order of buffalo cauliflower and chipotle beer short ribs? At Moon Dog World, all this and more is possible.

Opening its doors on Friday, 4 October, Moon Dog World is the newest member of the Moon Dog family. And it’s been no small feat for brothers and best mate trio Josh and Jake Uljans, and Karl van Buuren. The HUGE brewery is situated on a 12 000-square-metre space and fits over 700 craft beer enthusiasts and aficionados. Some even claim that it’s longer ‘end to end’ than the MCG. But after downing several of Moon Dog’s fine beer varieties, I wasn’t game to challenge that statement.

Let’s talk beer. There’s the crowd-pleasing Old Mate Pale Ale, Don’t Skip Over the Beer Can (a tropical lager) or the Tell Him He’s Creamin’, a creaming soda mid-strength. The Splice of Heaven – a pine lime ice cream IPA – is sublime.

Moon Dog World even offers wine on tap. They have gone with McLaren Vale winery Alpha Box & Dice. (Side note: If you’re ever in Adelaide, it’s worth taking a drive to the winery.) Select either the Alpha Tarot Pinot Grigio, the Pink Matter Rosé or the Tarot Grenache.

Feast on a range of meat and plant-based burgers. Our top three are: roast chicken, lettuce, mayo on a fresh baguette; the plant burger with a sweet potato and kimchi patty, and vegan slaw on a vegan bun; and the premium Angus beef patty with sauce, mustard and pickles, served on a brioche bun. The range of sides and sharing options are quite impressive – especially for bigger groups. Try the crispy eggplant with Szechuan sauce, coriander and toasted sesame. Or crispy chicken spare ribs. Or the sashimi tuna, accompanied with cucumber, wasabi mayo and soy sesame dressing.

The Moon Dog ethos is simple: have fun and do not take life too seriously. ‘Moon Dog World was born out of a desire to create a one-of-a-kind environment where people of all ages can have fun, eat, drink and enjoy each other’s company,’ says co-owner and Managing Director Josh Uljans.

Moon Dog World is the highly anticipated mega site that may be home to your next birthday shindig, Sunday session or night out. Now wrangle your mates and have some fun!
