Vivid Sydney is in full swing. The city of Sydney is lit up with a line-up of spectacular displays. Set across nine iconic precincts, spectators will be immersed in a celebration of music, light and ideas brought to life through a range of stunning installations.

This year the Royal Botanic Gardens will house an incredible 15 installations using the plants as a beautiful canvas. Empyrean explores the connections between the cosmic universe and our brains through a jewel like light structure. Beetopia is an amazing interactive bee hive overlooking the harbour designed to include people of all abilities buzzing when met with human contact. Torus is inspired by the Fibonacci sequence, echoing the reflections of sound in space with the sound waves from the beating of a drum moving light.

Another Sydney gem is The Rocks and these will be set alive by the Vivid Light Walk, a three-kilometre journey that features a number of sculptures, projections and installations set across a span of iconic buildings. Nostalgia Above is a moving piece created by the youngest group of artists alongside Beyond Blue to promote positive thinking, combining the clouds with weather data to demonstrate that there are always better days to come.

Pixar: 30 Years of Art and Animation is set at The Rocks and takes visitors on a journey through Pixar’s creative process using projections of early stage illustrations through to the final product. This installation will excite viewers of all ages and treat them to a very special sneak peek of Toy Story 4.

Another magical drawcard is Lights for the Wild at the enchanting Taronga Zoo where audiences will be wowed by an array of multimedia light sculptures.

One of the highlights every year is the Sydney Opera House and this year is no different with Andrew Thomas Haung’s Austral Floral Ballet, combining dance and motion capture technology to create a spectacular display for all to see.

Get in quick – Vivid ends this Saturday, 15 June! Sessions are daily from 6pm to 11pm.
