Sicilian Sundays at Mister Bianco

A short distance from Kew’s iconic and oft-hectic junction is Mister Bianco, an intimate Italian restaurant known for their authentic Italian flavours and charm. The popular local favourite is changing the way you wine and dine on Sundays by offering Melburnians a bountiful and abundant Sicilian Sunday Feast.

Kicking off from Sunday, 3 March, Mister Bianco opens its doors to hordes of hungry mouths. Milk Bar has access to the three-course menu and here are our favourites:

Antipasto: A share platter of everything Italian including fried eggplant and stracciatella; panel and green olive pesto; risotto and beetroot adorned with aged balsamic; and house-cured guanciale cotton and apricots (what a dream!).

Arrosto: Roasted porchetta, grilled corn, pumpkin and bang cauda.

Dolce: Prickly pear semifreddo, strawberry granita and whipped cream.

Admittedly, I worked up a sweat typing this out, which had nothing to do with the 35+ degree heat that we all suffered through last weekend. Just thinking about that prickly pear semifreddo is enough to—but I digress.

Owner and chef Joe Vargetto explains ‘we will not be serving just a standard roast, it will remain authentically Italian. I love working with local suppliers to source the best produce and we will be changing the Sunday roast menu on a regular basis to reflect what is in season and what locals will enjoy based on Melbourne’s changing climate!’

Expanding their trading hours on Sunday from 12 to 3pm and then for the dinner time slot from 6 to 11pm is a step in the right direction for all – and we thank Mister Bianco for giving us a true Italian feast that Nonni everywhere would be proud of.
