The Greville

Champagne never tasted so sweet than at The Greville. Adding a level of sophistication to an already exclusive (and cobbled) precinct in Prahran, the venue opened its doors to the public on Friday, 7 December. Milk Bar Mag attended the launch shindig and were left enamoured by the glitz and glam of The Greville.

Bathed in a vibe from the southern regions of France and the Italian Rivera, interior designer Vicky Zaparas goes to great lengths to imbue a sense of luxury and indulgence. Pink velvet walls, emerald green soft booth seating and a golden embossed ‘G’ hung behind the bar work flawlessly to create an inviting and unforgettable space.

Split into three distinct but connected areas, the concept of The Greville is that it’s somewhere you can drink, dine and dance. Preferably in that order, but hey that’s up to you! Curated cocktails, a fine selection of top shelf spirits and an excellent wine list wait for you in anticipation in the Champagne Bar. The man behind the bar is Alan Coop, the Head Mixologist and Bar Manager. His bespoke cocktails include ‘Mid Summer Nights’, a lush concoction of Four Pillars Rare Dry, blood orange syrup, ginger juice and Sambuca or the irresistible ‘Basil Rolling’, basil-infused Belvedere Vodka, St. Germain, lime juice, sugar and soda water. Sounds refreshing, right?

Let’s sashay to the Restaurant. Here you can find the usual suspects of share plates. Oysters – either fresh, or adorned with beetroot and pepper; coconut or lychee; spiced tomato essence – are at thetop of the list; so are the yellow fin tuna tartare, avocado and potato crisps. For mains, I recommend the Butterfield baby chicken, ginger and chilli ponzu, and grilled leeks or the 200g sirloin steak served in a delicious mushroom puree and truffle salt potatoes.

Upstairs, Level 1 @ The Greville is the premier place to dance on Friday and Saturday nights. The venue is the same site as Boutique and is open from 9pm to 3am.

A meeting ground for old or new friends, dance-y beats and lush cocktails, The Greville is the type of place that will be at the centre of your social calendar. Check it out for yourself!
