What does a night grooving to eclectic tunes, flowing cocktails and ten pin bowling look like? For one night only, Brisbane group Confidence Man belted out an intoxicating array of hit songs to crowds on a custom-built stage above bowling lanes at Strike Bowling QV. Milk Bar Mag rocked up to the first Live on the Lanes ready for a boogie. 

Behind the veil of the underground party is Funlab, the masterminds behind Strike Bowling, Holey Moley Golf Club and Archie Brothers Cirque Electriq. ‘We hope to roll out Live on the Lanes as an annual ticketed event for music lovers across Australia. Confidence Man have cemented themselves as one of the best modern Australian music exports and we are tickled pink to be hosting them at Live on the Lanes,’ said Funlab CEO Michael Schreiber.

Hot off the heels of performing at some of the biggest music festivals on local turf and abroad, Confidence Man raised the roof with party-starters ‘Boyfriend’, ‘Bubblegum’ and ‘Don’t You Know I’m in a Band’. The crowd meshed together to vibe along their provocative choreography, stage antics, stunning costumes and catchy songs. 

Now if you – like me – have a knack for bowling a strike or two then you will enjoy the night with a group of mates, or a significant someone, and bowl to your heart’s content. 

Confidence Man’s ‘C.O.O.L Party’ captures the mood of the night perfectly: It’s the party of the year and I know because I’ve been to heaps of parties. 

So keep it in the back of your mind because Live on the Lanes will host some of the best parties in 2019.
