Piccolina Gelateria has opened its third venue in Melbourne. Piccolina in St Kilda is the newest addition to the gelato chain, and with the beach only a five-minute walk away, it’s going to be ideal for the long summer days. The ice-creamery joins the Acland Street scene, and is close-by to fish and chip shops and outdoor bars, completing the perfect summer look.

There are 20 different house-made gelati to choose from, ranging from salted caramel to coconut to peanut butter. With four different types of granita on offer, there is a flavour for everyone. Not only do you have the choice of gelato, you can also ask to get a sweet drizzle of home-made Nutella sauce over your cone or cup. Vegan options are available with a choice between strawberry, passionfruit, lemon and dark chocolate, so no one will be left out!

If you are after a tangy flavour, I would opt for the strawberry gelato. It’s very close to the real deal. Otherwise, if you seek something with a bit of crunch, the honeycomb would be your best bet, with home-made honeycomb chunks. You won’t leave disappointed!

‘The lead up to summer is the perfect time to throw open the doors of another beautifully designed Piccolina store!’ says owner Sanda Foti. The store was designed by the award-winning team at Hecker Guthrie, based off a 1950s Southern Italy vibe, with the server bench made from square cut Italian tiles.

The St Kilda store joins the chain of stores already existing in Collingwood and Hawthorn. From the milk to the fruit, the reason why Piccolina Gelateria’s gelato is so delicious is because only 100% natural ingredients are used.

So get along to St Kilda, so enjoy a sweet scoop of summery goodness to start this season off in the right way.

It almost sounds like the premise of a reality TV show: pile a bunch of artists in a bus for seven days, send them across Mexico and see what happens.
