She might have made waves internationally before solidifying her place in the Australian fashion scene, but Megan Park has made her mark on our shores and she has no intention of slowing down.

Celebrating the release of her Autumn/Winter 2013 collection at her Armadale boutique, Park, says her extensive archives were her main source of inspiration when compiling her latest range.

Known for her dazzling prints, intricate beading and flawless cuts, Park says she wants women to feel comfortable, not restricted, whilst also having a fashionable edge. It’s the superior fabrics and prints that takes the collection to that next level and sees clients still wearing pieces from 10 years ago.

“I’ve been working with the same fabric company in India for 17 years; they understand my vision like no one else. All the beading and embroidery is hand sewn; you don’t get care and quality like that anymore.”

Her Pantone-palette of prints is also created in-house by design assistant and artist Meg (there must be something in the name).

“Meg will photograph foliage, flowers and leaves then hand-paint the designs, which are then digitally reworked. It results in our prints having a very organic, natural feel,” says Park.

The latest collection is reminiscent of an enchanted forest, with a palette of mineral tones including carbon, forest and eclipse, spliced with trims of bright ochre and terracotta and beading in coral and turquoise. Simple kaftans and tunic tops are embellished with delicate beading, while her woollen knits and coats are covered with silk panelling and embroidery. The classic cuts and shapes of the pieces allow the real stars of the show- the fabric, beading and prints, to shine.

The women of Melbourne can be thankful Park has made her mark in town, taking us out of our winter black cocoon and into her world of colour and light.
