Two-bular Bells
If you don’t know Mike Oldfield’s Tubular Bells by name you’ll know it when you hear it. The beautiful and sprawling progressive Celtic-folk-rock opus shot to number one on charts around the world in the early 70’s, throwing its young composer into the international spotlight and kick-starting Richard Branson’s Virgin empire. Tubular Bells for Two is an ambitious project by multi-instrumentalists Daniel Holdsworth and Aidan Roberts, who have arranged the entirety of Tubular Bells for just two blokes.
In this enthralling and highly entertaining theatrical event, Holdsworth and Roberts frantically juggle over twenty instruments to bring this influential masterpiece to life. The performance is intricately choreographed and rehearsed to present a work true to the original recording with all its multi-layered madness and subtle beauty intact.
What: Music/Acrobatics
When: 7.30pm, April 29th – May 5th
