Grab a coffee this Saturday 23 April, and celebrate Record Store Day (RSD). The biggest day for music fans and record aficionados is back and it’s gearing up to be another chock-full day championing the 200+ indie record stores in Australia. Turning 15 years, punters can expect a day of crate-digging, live music, artist signings and humming along to your favourite tunes.

Back in February, the Official Record Store Day Release list was announced with exclusive RSD titles from some huge names including Taylor Swift, Nick Cave, John Williams and stacks more international artists. Now in the lead up to this weekend’s festivities, Record Store Day Australia are thrilled to reveal the addition of beloved triple j Like A Version covers.

The triple j’s Hottest 100 covers include Tame Impala’s ‘Elephant’ as covered by The Wiggles (side note: it’s the highest-ranking Like A Version cover of all time), Ocean Alley’s Pink Floyd medley of ‘Breathe/Comfortably Numb/Money’, Middle Kid’s take on Olivia Rodrigo’s ‘drivers licence’, and Amy Shark’s performance of Fall Out Boy’s ‘Sugar, We’re Going Down’. Each 7-inch single will also feature a b-side of the artists’ own original track performed lie from the triple j studios. Make sure you get in quick!

Looking for an in-store DJ set or participating stores? Melburnians can scuttle to institutions Soundmerch, Natural Selection Records, Plug Seven Records, Licorice Pie, Skydiver Records, Vinyl Revival, The Searchers, Strangeworld Records and Northside Records. A detailed list can be found here.

If you can’t make it on the day, don’t fret – online sales of leftover RSD stock will be available at participating retailers’ online stores on Monday 25 April at 9 am.

Somewhere Else video sings of summer

It almost sounds like the premise of a reality TV show: pile a bunch of artists in a bus for seven days, send them across Mexico and see what happens.
