Ein Prosit, ein prosit (cheers, cheers) to the Hof family’s newest member, Little Hof.

From the masterminds who brought us Melbourne’s beloved Bavarian Bierhall, Hofbrauhaus, and the super-chill sister venue, The Hof Downtown, comes the latest addition to the Hof family, Little Hof

Located in the heart of the iconic South Melbourne Markets’ Cecil Street restaurant precinct, Little Hof serves delicious authentic German street food to the south on Wednesday to Saturday from 9:00 am to 9:30 pm.

Ever since ‘das original und das beste‘ Hofbrauhaus opened its doors in 1968, ‘Little Hof has always been a dream of the founders,’ says co-owner Eugen Zerdanowski. Offering authentic Bavarian food and drink right here in Melbourne for over 50 years, the Hof brand continues to grow.

Little Hof charmingly operates from a hole in a wall that adjoins a cosy Biergarten. Sit back and relax while your taste buds are taken on a journey through the unique and delicious flavours of traditional German street food. You cannot ignore the smell of the ever-popular succulent pork knuckle, fresh from the rotisserie, roasted on the bone with mouth-watering crackling served on a bed of sauerkraut, mustard and gherkins. Another dish that cannot be missed is the Currywurst.

In 1949, amid post-war shortages, a German woman, Herta Heuwer, was able to source and experiment using curry powder, ketchup and bratwurst to concoct what is now one of Germany’s most well-loved street food, Currywurst. Little Hof has mastered this dish, and it is absolutely and completely wunderbar! Make sure you accompany this showstopper with the freshest Bavarian Bretzel this side of Germany! Freshly baked, served warm, smeared with butter, dear god, this will blow your mind! Make sure to loosen your Dirndl und Lederhosen before devouring a serving of warm Apfelstrude, topped with a creme Anglaise which is, dare I say, better than your Oma’s!

Of course, you can also wash all this delicious German street food down with some authentic Bavarian refreshments. Why not try the Hofbrau original bier, a refreshing lager with a malty aftertaste, or Hofbrau Dunkel, a dark malty lager with hints of chocolate.

Whatever your pleasure, Little Hof is serving! With gluten-free and vegan options, everyone will leave smiling!

So, come on down, eat, drink and be fröhlich (happy) at Little Hof!

Guten Appetit!

It almost sounds like the premise of a reality TV show: pile a bunch of artists in a bus for seven days, send them across Mexico and see what happens.
