Melbourne International Comedy Festival: Awkward Conversations with Animals I’ve F*cked

If you’re into clever comedy, Awkward Conversations With Animals I’ve F*cked is the show for you. Written in a play-style format, Darcy Whitsed performed this dark comedy with ease. Perfect for the quirky and weird, this well-produced comedy show is an innovative and fresh piece showing within the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
Produced by Gavin Roach, this show follows Bobby in a monologue-style 70-minute show. Bobby’s a desperately sad man who has a tonne of love to give but he’s giving it to the wrong people – or should we say animals. These one-sided conversations between Bobby and the animals he has consensually “f*cked” take a comical route with a subliminal meaning.
With themes of love, acceptance and boundaries, this critically acclaimed show explores relationships in a stimulating way. Delving into mental illness, toxic masculinity and loneliness, Awkward Conversations With Animals I’ve F*cked is a comedy show unlike any other. Formatted into separate conversations with animals in different contexts, Bobby explores the issues within each setting. With the help of props, this dark comedy truly comes to life.
See Whitsed pour his heart out into this superbly written piece on stage till Friday 2 April. If you’re in the market to see something a bit different at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, this is the show for you.
