Welcome to Pink. The Restaurant

Walking into Pink. The Restaurant will feel like you’ve popped on some rose-coloured glasses before entering the room. It’s a fun and quirky eatery where nearly everything is coated in pink. Yes, that’s right – each dish has an element of pink. The cocktails are pink masterpieces and the décor is complete with resplendent pink walls, pink booths, a floor-to-ceiling rose wall and an upstairs area dedicated to pink self-love selfie settings.

Opening its doors in mid-June, Pink is a large, playful, lively space with a big bar and friendly staff. The rouge theme gives it a giant boost of festivity while the painted walls ask for “pink vibes only”.

Menu sections such a ‘Wholsome AF’ and ‘I Love You To Pizzas’ offer up Italian fare with a twist. ‘Little Hippy’ – pumpkin and sage ravioli with pink burnt butter sauce – is a must. The signature all-natural pink pizza bases complement delicious toppings, separated into ‘Healthy Sometimes’ and ‘Healthy All The Time’ categories.

The desserts definitely do not fall into the healthy category. They deserve to be a meal all unto themselves, not just as an afterthought. The ‘Pink Fondue’ with pink chocolate dipping sauce surrounded by fresh seasonal berries and fruit, marshmallows and biscuits, is unbelievable. And the ‘Choc Pizza’ is an intense medley of crunchy frosty flakes, salted caramel and chocolate bits.

The selection of pink cocktails and mocktails are dangerously yummy. There are mouth-watering options such as pink strawberry mojito and, white chocolate and passionfruit martini, some of which come with fairy floss puffs on top.

Pink bills themselves as “Melbourne’s most Instagrammable restaurant” and “the only healthy Italian restaurant”. Darren Male, the restaurant’s co-founder, says it’s a venue promoting self-love and healthy eating. And the setting certainly does create an upbeat and enjoyable atmosphere.

However, how much healthy self-love do the Instagram backdrops actually promote? The self-love vibes do come from a good place though. For every photo taken in front of the self-love mural using the hashtag #frompinktoyou they will donate $2 to Liptember, a campaign dedicated to raising funds and awareness for women’s mental health.

Pink. The Restaurant is open from Wednesday to Sunday, midday until late.

Somewhere Else video sings of summer

It almost sounds like the premise of a reality TV show: pile a bunch of artists in a bus for seven days, send them across Mexico and see what happens.
