Go Mad With Mukka

It’s almost May and that means it’s time for some madness at Mukka! This Sunday, 5 May get ready to Go Mad with Mukka – a wild celebration of colour and classic Indian eats.
In celebration of Holi, the Fitzroy favourite is hosting their second colour party, this time at The Hangar at Batman Royale from 11.30am to 4pm. For Mukka owners and event organisers, Prateek and Aditya Dhawan, Holi holds great significance as it’s a day of excitement and laughs. Back in India, the event called for giant parties in the street where partakers would put aside cultural differences, social barriers and their inhibitions to celebrate as one. It’s a time when colours means everything and nothing at all!
Go Mad with Mukka will have food, drink, music and dancing – everything needed for a truly raucous affair. Upon arrival, punters will be greeted with a warming glass of house-made chai and Indian sweets while enjoying a live performance soundtrack of soothing melodies from classical Indian instruments.
A moment of storytelling will explain the origins and cultural significance of Holi before the real fun sets in. Then, mountains of gulal (herbal, coloured powder) will be within arms-reach to assault friends and strangers alike. Between colour fights, Mukka will serve sumptuous treats from their mini street food stall. Look forward to munch on their famous hot Dosas (a South Indian staple made from a fermented batter of de-husked black lentils and rice with different fillings) and samosas.
Last year the party was a sell out with 300 people attending, so grab your ticket now before it’s too late!
