Women and Witchcraft: A Celebration of Power

Start the celebration of summer with Ella Mittas and Women and Witchcraft: A Celebration of Power. Inspired by the Pagan sabbat Beltane, Mittas is putting on an all-female staffed dinner series and art show. Femininity, fertility and abundance will be on the menu, Friday, 30 November and Saturday, 1 December. Female artists, winemakers and musicians will accompany the series.

The dinners will be held at St Heliers Street Gallery, Abbotsford Convent to compliment the art show on of similar witchy nature. The art show and dinner series will showcase a range of women in the arts including Linsey Gosper, Walkey Award-nominee Eloise Grills, Melissa Grisancich and Celeste Mountjoy. Musician Grace Ferguson will perform her own work between courses to coincide with Mittas’ constructed ambience. Merchant Road Catering will supply the floor staff, who are an organisation providing training and employment for women from refugee backgrounds.

Inspired by her Greek heritage and her obsession with cooking, Ella Mittas has created many different sold-out artisanal pop-up dinners. She has made a name for herself and her memorable dinners. Mittas takes great care in curating a pleasing aesthetic right down to selecting music, foraging flowers and sourcing fresh ingredients. The five-course sharing meal pays homage to Mittas’ Mediterranean background.

Underscoring the event is the notion that ‘feminine’ is an energy and an intelligence that is part of everything. It is not necessarily female. Women & Witchcraft is about celebrating that energy. Tickets include a five-course sharing meal entirely curated by Mittas and drinks are available to purchase on the night.

The whole exhibition runs till Sunday, 2 December. It is a must attend to kick off the start of summer and to celebrate the power of the feminine!
