The amazing ReelGood Film Festival was back again for its third year! The lovely John Roebuck, the Editor in Chief and Co-Founder of ReelGood, brings together an array of short films by Australian directors and producers to create a weekend of film, food, drinks and fun!

For lovers of film, this was a good place to spend the weekend with like-minded viewers. Tucked away in Rupert Street in Collingwood in the Schoolhouse Studios, it created an intimate viewing experience for all attending.

The weekend consisted of the opening night where Fell, an Australian film was viewed and was followed by a Q&A by director Kasimir Burgess and writer Natasha Pincus.

The second day was filled with short films, which varied from comedy to drama and mild horror. Airing from 10am until around 8pm, you could see them all throughout the day and night.

The venue had two main cinemas where the films were played. Given the choice of either a seated cinema in cinema one or a more intimate viewing with beanbags and floor seating in cinema two. There were another two smaller cinemas, which consisted of 3 seats with headphones, playing other short films and music videos throughout the duration.

The films were played in sessions where 2-3 films would be played and then intermissions where you could get a drink at the bar or a burger from the Mr. Burger truck parked in the outside part of the venue.

It differed from other film festivals as it created a warm and friendly environment where you could speak to other cinema lovers and have a drink and a boogie to the DJ in-between sessions!

Usually at film festivals, you must sit for more than 10 or so films at a time! This can be tiring for the mind and less enjoyable! ReelGood created a film festival where you could take in what you had seen before getting thrown the next set of films. The breaks in between sessions were also helpful to discuss and find out what everyone else had enjoyed (and which film they were voting for), while grabbing another handful of freshly made popcorn to indulge in for the next session!

Throughout the day and night, many cinema artists were showcased and it was a great opportunity for them to be seen and enjoyed! This chilled out party vibe created for the audience a fun and friendly environment to watch what Australia has to offer in the film industry!
