The Brunswick Music Festival is back for another year, from March 15-20 to celebrate its 28th year as Australia’s biggest urban music festival.

The Sydney Road Street Party will help kick off the festivities on March 6, which sees the whole stretch of Sydney Road shut down to pack the street for party of the summer. The free street festival is a one of a kind with food, music, dance and market stalls.

Crowds of 50,000+ come down to Brunswick to experience premier folk/acoustic/roots music to bring a sense of community and passion to the streets. Check out some of the premier musical nights below.

Rumi Dinner & Show feat. Zourouna and Laila Shouha
Rumi Restaurant is teaming up with Zourouna and Laila Shouha to bring Middle Eastern soul food and music together in a magical night of culinary delight. Do not miss this Moreland dining experience with a choice of marvellous entrees, mains or sweets. It’s a night of music and food, accompanied with dance and rhythm.

GOSPEL BRUNCH WITH POPE JOAN FEAT. SWEET MONA’S CHOIR & PBS GOSPEL HOUR DJ
If brunch is more your thing, come down to Brunswick Uniting Church on Saturday 19th March for “power-packed, soul stirring, sweet as honey, Gospel music”. Lead by the captivating Stella Savy, the Sweet Monas bring gospel masterpieces to accompany the tasty, signature dishes from Brunswick’s Pope Jane café. It’s a southern feast to fill the stomach and warm soul.

ASYLUM SEEKER WELCOME CENTRE DINNER & SHOW FEAT. AJAK KWAI, BASHKA & JAWA PITU BAND
The ASWC is a community center that offers a safe space for people seeking asylum in Melbourne, and has been an active space in the community for almost 15 years. On March 15, BMF will collaborate with them on one of their weekly dinners, to bring together a night of music and food. Come and celebrate all that the ASWC has done for the community. Featuring Ajak Kwai, matriarch of South Sudanese song, Bashka, new dance music from the streets of old Turkey and Jawa Pitu Band, Indo/Malay soul and East African jazz. $5 from every ticket goes straight back into the ASWC.

This year, the festival has introduced The Town Hall Venue Pass, which give ticket holders access to each show in the Brunswick Town Hall over the five days of the festival. The Venue Pass is $220 plus booking fee, and includes perks such as queue-jumping and a complimentary drink at the Festival Bar.

The Brunswick Music Festival is proudly presented by Performing Arts Moreland, and its partner with the Moreland City Council.
