Posted by Shannon McKeogh
08. Feb, 2016
Ever wondered whether Peter Helliar could be Australia’s next fast-bowler? If Adam Goodes can bat as good as he can boot a footy? If Olympian Leisel Jones has superstar Donald Bradman skills?
Donning cricket gear these celebrities will play for glory, fun, and to raise funds for the Luke Batty Foundation on February 21 in Port Melbourne.
Other celebrities taking part are Bachelor Sam Wood, Channel Seven commentator and journalist Samantha Lane, presenter Emma Notafrancesco, The Biggest Loser trainer Commando Steve, Channel Nine personality Lauren Phillips, Dancing With The Stars‘ Ash Pollard, Selling Houses and The Block judge Shaynna Blaze and more.
The entertaining match has been organised to highlight domestic violence. Shockingly two women are killed each week by family members and 1 in 4 women will experience physical violence.
All funds raised will go directly to the Luke Batty Foundation which aims to raise community awareness and work directly with government organisations. The foundation’s focus is is on education within the sector and highlighting the effect family violence has on children.
The 20 Twenty Match will follow the current international format with some unique inclusions including tippity, one-hand one-bounce and not out first bat. Even non-cricket fans will enjoy this fast-paced match for a good cause.
