La Svolta

Tucked away, just off the main thoroughfare of Chapel Street, lies the hidden gem La Svolta. Unassuming in signage, blink and you might just miss it. Unlike its Lygon Street counterparts, La Svolta diffuses a home-spun Italian air sans the pushy restaurant owners hawking for business. Marked by quality food, attentive wait staff and a pleasant ambience, it is no wonder this classic Italian restaurant is able to draw in a young, hip clientele night after night.
La Svolta has recently unveiled an outdoor dining terrace to the public. Walk through to the back of the restaurant and you will find yourself in a cosy dining area lit by fairy lights strung overhead. Visibly surrounded by the less polished (but no less interesting) underbelly of Chapel Street behind its façade, La Svolta’s outdoor dining area exudes a rustic, but ultimately wholesome, Italian charm. Classic red and white checked tablecloths complete the picture.
Live music, complimentary drinks and a constant stream of food brought out piping hot from the kitchens ensured the evening of its debut would be a popular one. Relaxed, uncomplicated and unpretentious, La Svolta provides a perfect backdrop to the sultry summer days and nights ahead.

It almost sounds like the premise of a reality TV show: pile a bunch of artists in a bus for seven days, send them across Mexico and see what happens.
