Take 2 Markets

Melbourne’s original women’s recycled designer and vintage fashion event, Take 2 Markets, is celebrating its seventh birthday in July with three style-filled events in two iconic Melbourne locations.

This enduring fashion event continuously finds its way into the busy diaries of Melbourne’s fashion-conscious crowd, attracting style hunters keen to pick up a new favourite piece to add to their ever-evolving wardrobes. The attraction lies in it being an opportunity to find what is the holy trinity of fashion finds: a designer piece in a classic style at a great price.

Mirroring Melbourne’s own reputation as a diverse and eclectic fashion arena, the markets attract not only shoppers from across the style spectrum, but stallholders too.

Shoppers are privy to a selection of sartorial finds from local and international designers, cutting-edge labels, high street names and vintage collections.

Take 2 Markets will draw in the fashion pack at Victoria Market’s ‘A’ Shed on Sunday 13 July where shoppers will find designer and high street wares nestled amongst the hustle and bustle of the historic city landmark.

The following Sunday 20 July sees Take 2’s sister market, Strictly Vintage, take over the art deco surroundings of the Northcote Town Hall. Shoppers that venture north will find a curated selection of fashion and accessories from the 1920s to the 1980s.

The grand finale off the month of birthday celebrations will see Take 2 Markets returns to the Northcote Town Hall on Sunday 27 July where 47 stallholders will reveal their latest finds to the fashion-obsessed hoards.

While a love of fashion and style is the primary reason visitors flock to the market, the sustainable element is an added attraction for many.

Take 2 Markets owner Rina Chia champions a more thoughtful way of buying, selling and consuming in order to tread more lightly on the environment. Her market also offers an additional income stream for savvy sellers.

She said: ‘In the seven years I’ve had Take 2 Markets, what’s become apparent is that many styles remain relevant, with designs reappearing year after year’.

‘Why buy a brand new classic black blazer for hundreds of dollars when you can find a pristine one here for a fraction of the cost?

‘Good style endures. When a woman no longer has a use for items in her wardrobe, it doesn’t mean that they’ve stopped being beautiful pieces. In fact they will usually fit in seamlessly to another woman’s wardrobe.’

Catching the attention of the fashion industry, local government and bloggers, Take 2 Markets has been presented with myriad awards for innovation in business and its eco-friendly ethos.
