This winter the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival is keeping the home fires burning with its annual Roast Collection, a month-long festival where restaurants across the city put together their own take on the venerable roast.

There’s over 100 events all up, here are some of our picks.

Roast of Thrones, College Lawn Hotel, 28 June
A fan of the Thrones? Then dine like a king for the day and gather your royal entourage for some spit-roasted feasting with all of the trimmings – and plenty of wines and ale on offer to wash it down with.

The Chef, Baker & Winemaker, Rustica Sourdough, 26 June
A home-cooked rustic-style dinner hosted by (you guessed it) a chef, a baker and a winemaker. These three young producers will take you through a delicious four-course menu featuring roasted spiced duck and ginger syrup, sesame encrusted rye crostini and Yarra Valley pinot noir.

Shoulder to Shoulder, Orange Bar and Restaurant, June 8 and 22
No need to go cold this winter – get cosy in front of the fireplace with someone special and share a plate of slow-cooked lamb.

Piggy in the Middle, Middle Park Hotel, weekends throughout June
Indulge in a two or three-course piggy feast including roasted Wessex Saddleback Porchetta, cauliflower macaroni gratin, and lemon butter Sussex Pond pudding.

Le Tour de Roast, The French Brasserie, Tuesdays throughout June
Take a low-energy Tour de France this winter and embark on a culinary journey around provincial France on this Tuesday night roast series.

The Roast Collection is running until the end of June.
