Dog & Human Walking Program

This Friday at Flagstaff Gardens, it will be proven that we don’t walk our pups; they walk us—something dog-owners among us have always known.

Melbourne’s Lost Dogs’ Home — who take in around 30,000 lost and abandoned pets each year — will be hosting the dog-walking event, and bringing a crew of adorable, eligible dog-adoptees along for the outing. City workers are encouraged to visit any time between 11am-2pm to wag tails and walk amongst the pack…or perhaps even meet a special someone to take home.

Owners and dog lovers alike are to be let off-leash as part of the organisation’s attempts to raise awareness about the benefits of canine companionship; widely recognised for its therapeutic impacts in reducing stress, boosting happiness levels and ultimately longevity.

You don’t need a dog to attend — just trundle down for a break from the desk, enjoy some fresh air and pat a little rescued scallywag. But be warned: while we’ll be switching roles with the dogs for a day, it’s still no excuse to take a dump on the middle of the lawn. BYO poop bags.
