Sex Idiot

British live artist, Bryony Kimmings airs her dirty laundry (and then some) at this year’s Comedy Festival.

First performed at 2010’s Edinburgh Fringe, the cheeky English lass has brought her award-winning show to our shores.  It’s the tale of her honourable (perhaps familiar) mission to contact a lengthy line of previous lovers after discovering she has an STI.

A self-dubbed ‘Sex Idiot’, each former flame’s response induces a raucous (often raunchy) re-enactment from Kimmings, as she endeavours to pinpoint the origin of her ailment.

Unashamedly writhing and wriggling in and out of her wild costumes, the accomplished physical theatre player has us smitten within minutes, hanging on her every obscenity.

She sings, dances and spits her way through a bountiful sexual history with hilariously unthinkable sketches – be they brandishing a condom on her head (“any man who says he’s too big is lying!”) or a vaginal speculum in her mouth.

Candour is applied liberally, with Kimming’s journey no doubt stirring the supressed secrets of many an audience member. She absolutely owns the stage, and despite flaunting her derrière (dressed in little more than her brassiere), wields a feisty feminist fist. This queen of comedy is an absolute cracker – worth staying up for.
