Cocktail of the week: Dark & Stormy Old Fashioned
Posted by Dan Kuseta

The dark and stormy is a classic rum drink. It uses black rum (traditionally Goslings Black Seal rum) with fresh lime and topped with ginger beer.
Los Barbudos’ cocktail is a twist on this classic, incorporating the essential flavours of the drink; the spice of the ginger, the lime and the rum, with a lateral take to make something completely different.
The way we get these flavours is using a home-made ingredient, ginger & lime zest syrup. Slowly cooking these ingredients with brown sugar and water makes for a spicy and zesty syrup, that when combined with black rum and citrus bitters, makes for a lovely rich and treacly cocktail.
