Marker celebrates 10 years of collecting at Hawthorn Art Gallery with a month of music, art and making merry at the Hawthorn Arts Centre. Focusing on the theme of community, the event will feature an Open Day, concerts and workshops while showcasing the work of artists including John Brack, Selina Ou, Helen Maudsley and Robert Clinch.

Kicking off festivities Brett Kelly (of Melbourne Symphony Orchestra) will be musically directing his Impossible Orchestra while Tamil Rogeon, Ryan Stewart and Kylie Auldist lend their music chops to the opening concert this Friday.

Workshops start on Saturday Nov 23 and include nifty how-tos like  3D chalk art. Give to charity and enjoy yourself at the same time at the Hawthorn Arts Centre Gala Ball on the Saturday night with three-course meal, entertainment and a charity auction. Then pick yourself up on Sunday morning and head to the Open Day that will be chockers full with entertainment, workshops and stalls!

Mardi Nowak is curating the collection and in her words, art making and art collecting are one in the same thing. Marker provides a Boroondara perspective from selecting artists and their works from the area. These major works will be shown alongside local pieces donated by members of the community.

Marker runs from Nov 22 – Jan 4 at the Hawthorn Arts Centre and Town Hall Gallery.
