This spring the Asian Food Festival is bringing together a variety of culinary options celebrating Melbourne’s cultural diversity.

Starting this week the Chinatown precinct will be turned into a food paradise. Over 50 restaurants across Melbourne will be participating in this festival and they will be offering their Asian Food Festival Banquet menu for lunch and dinner. There are also events ranging from cooking demonstrations and pop-up markets to a train ride to Bendigo and floating Yum Cha cruises.

The festival highlight is The Biggest Yum on October 11. Three blocks of streets, from Little Bourke Street to Chinatown and Spring Street to Swanston Street, will be set up with outdoor communal tables. Besides food there’s live entertainment and Lion Dance performances. Join in the waiter’s race to see who can rush to the finishing line while balancing a tray of cups of Chinese tea.
