The Barons Palate Pop Up

Melburnians are a generous, beautiful bunch and we love nothing more than a good collaboration. Think the cycling and coffee at St Ali North, the beard trimming and boot making at Captains of Industry, the hangover and yum cha.

The Baron Said is an agency that takes a leaf out of this book and puts on events with a twist –  preferably one of lemon. Launched by Jarett and Jasmin Lefers with partner Aaron McKenzie, TBS brings together different disciplines and this week sees the launch of their first foray into food: The Barons Palate.

From July 18 – 21 a warehouse behind The Evelyn in Fitzroy will host four very unique dining experiences. That means chefs are partnering with cocktail makers and artists to create a cracking good cacophany of the senses. Some of the artists creating and curating work on the night include Aaron McKenzie, Andre Hnatojko, Christopher Boots and Alyssa Black.

In-between all that art food will be served on perspex, while lightbox balloons will waft through – covered in meringue. Also cocktails served as dehydrated desserts. I wouldn’t be surprised if unicorns dipped in leprechaun gold and Sharknado made a special guest appearance. Don’t say you weren’t there.

The Barons Palate runs from July 18 – 21 at Kerr St Fitzroy (behind The Evelyn).
Tickets for Thurs $29, for the rest $55. To book visit trybooking.com.

Somewhere Else video sings of summer

It almost sounds like the premise of a reality TV show: pile a bunch of artists in a bus for seven days, send them across Mexico and see what happens.
